Once hired for a Class III, Class II, or Work permit position, candidates must apply for a license/work permit. 

For positions requiring a Class III Gaming License

Complete a background investigation meeting the specifications and standards of the NYS Gaming Commission and the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Commission, and have never been convicted of a crime.

Tribal Gaming Work Permit

Background check is conducted by Tribal Gaming. Process may take up to 10 days before work permit is approved.
Non-gaming positions, such as Cooks, Bartenders, Food Servers, Warehouse, Hotel, and Bingo: depending on severity of prior charges, including felonies, the applicant may be eligible to receive a work permit.

Class III Gaming License

Background check is conducted by NYS Gaming Commission. This process is extensive and may take up to 4 – 6 weeks (Also includes a drug test).
All applicants will be fingerprinted.
The applicant must disclose any prior arrests and charges. If applicant does not disclose this information, the job offer may be rescinded for non-disclosure of information.
Depending on the severity of charges or felonies as well as date of the charges (applicants may be eligible for a pardon), the applicant may still be eligible for a Class III Gaming License. This will be determined by Tribal Gaming.
Positions on the gaming floor receive a Class III License, such as; Security, Cage Cashier, Dealers, Slot Attendants, and Winners Club.

Other Standards

Must be at least 18 years of age when applying
Must have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Must be able to pass a mandatory drug test for illegal substances prior to employment being confirmed
Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including holidays and weekends.
Must have reliable transportation
All positions at Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort require either a Class III Gaming License or a Tribal Gaming Work Permit. The type of license/permit is included on the job posting for each position.

The Mohawk Gaming Enterprises utilizes a Native American preference policy in hiring, training, and promotion. When there is a job opening or training opportunity, the Gaming Enterprise will evaluate all candidates for the position and will select the most qualified candidate. In the event two or more candidates meet all of the job requirements and have substantially similar qualifications, the Gaming Enterprise will utilize the preference policy to make the final determination on who will be offered the opportunity or position.

When preference is utilized, first priority will be given to enrolled member of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe. Second priority will be given to members of other federally recognized Tribal Nations or First Nation citizens from Canada. All other individuals will be third priority.
